Sigulda is a beautiful town in Latvia situated in the Gauja Valley. It has often been referred as Switzerland of Vidzeme. The town is popular among visitors for views of the valley and its castle, which are the best places to visit in Sigulda. The town has 3 wonderful castles with a very rich history. The Turaida Castle is the most prominent among them. Another major Sigulda tourist attractions Gutmanic Cave is closely associated with Turaida Castle. Both these places are part of the story of a girl named Maija. Her grave which is also known as “Rose of Turaida” is situated in the castle and the cave is associated with her love story and her death.
